“I only see a couple of investors in one area, but there are more in another. Which one should I choose?”
I get a question like this almost weekly, and before we proceed, watch this video.
Don’t be Afraid of Other Investors
When starting out, avoiding areas with other investors is tempting, but you should consider being close to them. Success leaves clues. If many people work in one location and only a few in another, I want to choose the area where the other investors are.
In the video, you saw more surfers on one side of the pier and fewer on the other; if I were a new surfer, I’d choose the side with all the surfers. All those people know something. The same applies to choosing an investing area.
When to Choose that Other Area
Once I have completed several deals, I might try a deal in the area with fewer investors, but it would only be a test. Testing the waters is fine, but I won’t put “all chips on the table” until I test these little new areas.
